Q: How did you develop the idea for your project?
A: My design idea was based on the basic elements for entertainment for pre-school kids. I brainstormed with my lecturers and friends and I also looked for playground sites nearby to get some ideas. I had given much thought on the playground design. Aside from the educational and entertainment function of the design, I also incorporated thoughts on the safety features of the playground. Use of materials is one of the important safety features such as rubberized floor and minimal use of sharp angles.
A: First, we had a series of discussion on what makes a good playground and what’s necessary. Then, I drafted a sketch and after relooking at the instruction for using Inventor, we then moved on to the assembly process. Final step was to do an animated simulation on the playground. All in all, it took me almost 3 and a half months to complete the project.
A: I almost couldn’t finish the project as there were a few critical areas. I couldn’t create some parts of the playground. After numerous attempts, working closely with my lecturer and looking for solutions on the internet, it was finally resolved. We even had to contact the Inventor trainer for advice.
Q: What do you like best about your finished design?
A: The most interesting part of the design is the slider; there’s the helical slider, curve slider and straight slider.
Q: Where would be your ideal place to work and why?
A: My interest is in the automotive industry, I hope to be able to contribute in this field.
