Bubo is based on the mechanical owl featured in the 1980s Clash of the Titans. I wanted to rig a bird, which I hadn't done before, but I also wanted to do something robotic. Bubo was the ideal candidate. I deviated from the design for aesthetic reasons and time. I wrote a simple script to speed up connecting the feathers to controls via multiplyDiv nodes... Bubo is about 40,000 polygons because of the individual feathers... I tried to keep the control system simple, but useful. This took a few days to build and then a week to decide on how to build and refine the rig. (May 2011 - Maya 2011)
